At Ganga Utsav, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Inaugurates SREC Initiatives on Leather, Textile
It was a proud moment for Solidaridad to be a part of the Ganga Utsav, a festival to celebrate the rivers of India, in New Delhi, on 4 November 2022. On this occasion, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated three initiatives of Solidaridad. These were:
- A pictorial booklet of Kanpur Leather Project showing its impact (pre- and post-Solidaridad and partner interventions) on checking pollution
- A Textile Pollution Portal in collaboration with the Central Pollution Control Board and National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Government of India
- An animated video of the Kanpur Leather Project in collaboration with Namami Gange, Dutch partner Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Stahl and Dugros — displaying successful execution of the PPP project. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (GoI) extended support as a formal partner in the planning and execution of the Kanpur Leather Project
Also in attendance were Pankaj Kumar, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, GoI; G. Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG; D.P. Mathuria, Executive Director, NMCG; and various national as well as international delegates. Solidaridad was represented by our General Manager Tatheer Zaidi.
