SREC supported Amalgamated Plantations in organising medical camps in the closed tea gardens of Dooars which have been termed as ‘sick’ gardens having being closed for the last 13 years leading to deplorable living conditions in the respective estates.
It was decided to take a holistic view of the situation and look at a long term perspective of providing medical assistance and child care by ensuring a sustainable health care by conducting a series of medical camp per garden to ensure treatment and follow up.
A series of medical camps in 3 gardens were carried out through a holistic view of the situation with a long term perspective of providing medical assistance and child care. The camps were organised in two phases in close cooperation between estate & welfare management team and the civil administration authorities.
